Android 7.0 Nougat is rolling out to first set of devices
Android
7.0 Nougat has started rolling out. As is expected, Nexus devices are
getting it first. These include: the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus
9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G (Android One). Devices
enrolled in the Android Beta Program will also receive this final
version.
What’s New?
Google
says that there are over 250 major features in Android Nougat. Some of
these new features include the following improvements:
- better battery and data management, including a new data saver for restricting data usage for background apps
- improved performance
- improved productivity features, including Split-screen mode and a quick switch feature
- expanded emoji: Android 7.0 Nougat adds 72 new emojis
- more
notification controls – and we hope that users get the option to
disable the silly heads-up notifications introduced earlier
- quick Settings controls
